Back in her Amish community after a 3-year absence, the heroine of Marta Perry’s Anna’s Return has created a stir. Perhaps it is because she hasn’t told anyone, not even her family, that her baby is adopted, or that its violent father remains a threat.
Anna knows she has much to answer for and soon confides in her childhood friend Samuel, who also lived among the English. Yet Samuel is now content to rededicate himself to the Amish way, while Anna remains conflicted. As the two grow closer, Anna longs to ask forgiveness from the community whose blessing she took for granted. But before she can, Anna realizes she’s endangered those around her when the baby’s father seeks vengeance by targeting the man she loves…. |
